Hinds Honey and Almond Cream was formulated and marketed by Aurelius Stone Hinds in Portland, Maine. Hinds took the leap to entrepreneurship in 1870 by buying the drugstore he had worked in for eight years. After working on the formulation of the cream for several years, he began selling it from his drugstore in the latter part of the 1870s. It became such a success that he went into commercial production first in Portland and later in New Jersey.
